So I'm currently reading 'The three musketeers' and I noticed how much all of the adaptions of this novel that I've seen so far (movies, musical, TV series) have altered the characters to fit the 20th century concept of heroes and noblemen. Because honestly, don't they all seem like giant douchebags when you look at them with the eyes of someone raised in today's society? The more noble a character is supposed to be the more of an ass he acts. Which makes Athos the douchiest of them all :D The only one who comes across as halfway decent is Aramis. Probably because his wish to become a priest gives him slightly different moral conceptions.
Oh well, the novel is still pretty cool though.
